Rangers manager Mark Warburton has lavished praise on the young players in his squad for dealing with the pressure of playing for the Gers this season.

The Gers are on the cusp of returning to the Scottish top tier and they will secure the Championship title if they get all three points against Dumbarton tonight at a packed Ibrox.

Since suffering liquidation in 2012, which forced them to start again in the fourth tier, Rangers have consistently grown and missed out on promotion from the Championship last season by a whisker.

Warburton took charge of the club last summer, and oversaw an overhaul of the playing squad; the Rangers boss credited the young group of players he signed for dealing with the high expectations at Ibrox.

The Rangers manager said in a press conference: “A lot of new people came in here.

“Don’t forget 16 players left last summer, and eleven guys came in right at the outset and young players as well.

“And for them to understand what it means playing for Rangers, the responsibility and the expectations.

"For young guys to deal with that as they have, I think they have been full of character.”

Rangers have dominated the Scottish Championship this season, and will also play in the Challenge Cup final next Sunday against Peterhead.

They also have a Scottish Cup semi-final date with eternal rivals Celtic later this month.
