Celtic winger Patrick Roberts says he has no issues in being compared to Lionel Messi, after Bhoys assistant boss John Collins did just that.

Roberts, who is on an 18-month loan deal at Celtic from Premier League outfit Manchester City, has started to make waves in Glasgow with his accomplished performances.

He recently netted a brace in a win over Hearts and as a result was man marked for Celtic's next game against Dundee.

The Messi comparisons have further increased the hype around him, but Roberts has no issue in being compared to a player who is his hero in the game.

"Everyone knows I enjoy watching him and how I idolise him. It doesn't bother me at all", he told a press conference this afternoon when asked about the Messi comparison.

"He is extraordinary, the greatest player I've ever seen.

"You've got to believe to achieve and hopefully one day I can reach those heights", the winger added.

Roberts will be aiming to clock up as much playing time as possible during his spell at Celtic ahead of returning to Manchester City and looking to make an impression at the Etihad Stadium.

It had been suggested he could be called back from his loan in the summer to allow new Citizens boss Pep Guardiola a closer look at his talents, but Celtic boss Ronny Deila has ruled out any early ending of the loan agreement.
