The 24-year-old’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season and he has long been tipped to leave Newcastle in the summer on a free transfer.

 

While not being a regular, Eddie Howe has often been happy to praise Longstaff and has always been hopeful that he will sign a new contract with the club.

 

 

He started three of Newcastle’s last four Premier League games and was brilliant in the middle of the park in their 2-0 win over Arsenal on Monday night.
