Following the arrival of new owners in October, the Magpies spent upwards of £90m on players in the January transfer window.

Having avoided relegation in the recently concluded campaign, the Newcastle hierarchy are ready to back boss Eddie Howe in the summer and their recruitment department are already working on several targets.

It was widely reported that Newcastle will only have a maximum transfer budget of £60m going into the summer transfer window, significantly lower than they spent in January.

However, Howe is expected to have as much as £100m, at the top end, in his transfer kitty, excluding player sales, while at least £60m will be made available to him at the low end.

Despite being seen as the “richest club in world”, Newcastle will work with a tighter budget than many anticipated them to have.

In January, Newcastle were quoted high asking prices from the clubs of players they were looking to recruit and the situation has not changed with the summer window rapidly approaching.

Newcastle are linked with players across all positions and it remains to be seen how many new signings they will make ahead of next season.
