Mark Warburton left QPR at the end of last season and the London club have been in the process of identifying a new manager since then.

Beale has been one of the names they have been looking at but it has emerged he is now the favourite to take charge of the club.

QPR sought permission from Aston Villa to hold talks with Beale last week and it seems the negotiations have gone according to plan.

The Championship club are now close to appointing the 41-year-old as their new manager this summer.

Beale is keen to start this career in management and is interested in taking up the job at QPR.

He was previously at the Liverpool academy and Steven Gerrard took him to Rangers when he became the manager at Ibrox in 2018.

Beale has been part of Gerrard’s staff for the last four years and he feels ready to take up a managerial role at this stage of his career.

Villa will not make it hard for Beale to join QPR but will be due compensation from the Championship club.
