With the summer window set to swing open this week, the recruited department at Nottingham Forest have gone into overdrive.

Forest boss Steve Cooper is keen to bolster his squad ahead of their first Premier League season in 23 years and the club’s hierarchy are ready to invest in player recruitment.

Midfield is an area Cooper is looking to reinforce and Nottingham Forest are keen on a move for Wolves star Morgan Gibbs-White.

And according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, the Nottinghamshire giants have identified another midfield target in Italy in the shape of Spezia star Maggiore.

But in addition to Nottingham Forest, their top-flight rivals Brentford are also keen on a summer move for the 24-year-old.

Maggiore was a fixture for Spezia last season in Serie A and also wears the armband for his side.

The midfielder only has a year remaining on his current deal at the Stadio Alberto Picco, and it remains to be seen whether Forest of Brentford make any concrete moves for him.
