The centre-back spent last term on loan at Ligue 1 giants Marseille, and wanted to continue there having enjoyed a stellar campaign back in France.
Marseille are keen to have him back at the Stade Velodrome as they look to gear up for a season of Champions League football.
Despite being on the books at the Emirates Stadium since the summer of 2019, Saliba is yet to break into the senior squad at Arsenal, spending several seasons away on loan.
And the centre-back also managed to attract interest from Serie A heavyweights Napoli this summer as they identified him as a potential replacement for Kalidou Koulibaly, who is linked with a move away from the club.
However, according to Italian outlet AreaNapoli.it, Saliba has told his manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s hierarchy that he wants to stay at Arsenal as they look to offer him a new deal, amidst interest from elsewhere.
Saliba wants to establish himself as a regular at Arsenal and is looking forward to competing in the Premier League, which has a wealth of top players and top teams.
Arsenal will be playing in the Europa League next season and as it stands, Saliba could make his long-awaited debut for the club next term.
