Ostigard joined the Seagulls in the summer of 2018 but he has not played a single minute of first team football for them.
Instead his career as a Brighton player has for the most part been to go on loan and he spent the latter half of last season with Italian side Genoa.
Genoa were relegated but the defender could still be an Serie A player next season as Napoli are keen on signing him.
The centre-back is close to an agreement with the Italian side but it is with Brighton that they have to come to an understanding with as their valuations wary.
The Naples club are offering €4m for the centre-back while the Seagulls are demanding €6m and a meeting is scheduled this week to steer negotiations towards a conclusion, according to Italian outlet CalcioNapoli24.it.
As the defender’s contract at the Amex expires next summer, the Seagulls are willing to offload him this window lest he exit for free in a year’s time.
Ostigard played 14 matches for Genoa last season and impressed as while the club themselves were relegated, the centre-back was involved in six clean sheets.
