The Turf Moor outfit have an agreement in place for a year-long loan to Turkish giants Besiktas for the target man but do not have his say-so to make the transfer final.

Weghorst joined Burnley from Wolfsburg only in January to replace the departing Chris Wood and recorded two goals and three assists from 20 Premier League games.

He has an agreement in place that allows him to seek a loan move in the event of relegation from the Premier League.

The Dutch international has yet to approve the move to the Istanbul club and is stalling as he wants a move to either the Premier League or Bundesliga.

In all competitions last season, Weghorst recorded nine goals and four assists from 44 appearances for both Wolfsburg and Burnley.

The forward wishes to make Louis van Gaal’s final 23 for the World Cup in Qatar and knows playing in the Championship might hurt his chances of being selected.

Weghorst spent three and a half seasons at Wolfsburg, scoring 70 goals and recording 22 assists in 144 games for Die Wolfe before moving to Burnley.
