The Bosnia international made 27 appearances in all competitions in the 2021/22 season, registering a solitary assist, and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at relegated Bordeaux in Ligue 1.

The 23-year-old defender is a target for Championship club Blackburn, who made another attempt to land the Bosnian over the weekend.

Sheffield United though are winning the chase for Ahmedhodzic, who only has a medical left to be completed before he joins the rest of the squad in pre-season training.

The Bramall Lane outfit have agreed a fee and personal terms with the centre-back after accelerated talks, reinforcing their defence by landing their main target.

Ahmedhodzic has played in the Championship before with eventual Premier League returnees Nottingham Forest, making one appearance for them off the bench and is known to current Blades academy manager Jack Lester from that time.

The Blades lost out to Forest in the playoffs at the end of the last season after finishing the Championship in fifth place.

The south Yorkshire-based club will mount another challenge with a view to making it back to the Premier League.
