The Senegal international was signed from Slavia Prague last summer for a fee of £7.2m and loaned out to Stoke City in the Championship.

In all competitions for both the Potters and the Czech side during the 2021/22 season, the 20-year-old made only 15 appearances, scoring four goals and laying on one assist.

The Senegalese forward continues to remain in Graham Potter’s long-term plans but the hope is that he can find regular first-team action for the upcoming campaign.

Towards that end, Sima is close to sealing a loan switch to Ligue 1 side Angers, who lost a talented and versatile forward in Mohamed Ali-Cho to Real Sociedad this summer.

The right-winger, who can play all across the forward line, played less than 800 minutes overall during the last campaign owing to a spate of injuries.

Angers finished last season in 14th place in the Ligue 1 table and will hope to improve upon that standing next campaign.

The Black and Whites will play host to Nantes on 7th August at the Stade Raymond Kopa to kick off their league campaign.
