The 19-year-old attacking midfielder spent the latter half of last season at Bristol Rovers and scored eight times in 21 League Two appearances.
He is considered to be one of the brightest young talents at Newcastle and Gas boss Joey Barton wants him back for a fresh loan spell, with Anderson a key target.
Newcastle are looking to loan him out again and are keen to find the right club for him this summer.
It has been claimed West Brom, Stoke and Luton are amongst the Championship clubs who are interested in Anderson in the ongoing window.
Bristol Rovers may face a battle beating Championship sides to Anderson, while their League One rivals Sheffield Wednesday have also made a loan enquiry for the midfielder.
Newcastle do not have any preference for the Championship or League One and are more focused on finding the club that will be right for him.
The club are also assessing whether it would be better for Anderson to play in the Championship or at a promotion-chasing club in League One.
A decision has not been made and Newcastle will sit down with Anderson’s camp to assess the options.
