Manager Steve Cooper is looking to enrich his centre-back department and Nottingham Forest have taken a step in that direction.

 

Niakhate’s move from German side Mainz to Nottingham Forest is close to completion as the Tricky Trees get ready to make their fourth first team signing.

 

 

Nottingham Forest have agreed a fee that could rise up to €15m for the centre-back and now it remains for his signing to become official.

 

It is likely that Niakhate signs his contract with Nottingham Forest today, according to French radio station RMC.

 

 

The centre-back is scheduled to arrive in England today and he can sign his deal with Nottingham Forest.

 

Niakhate is set to sign a contract of three years with the Tricky Trees as they aim to be ready for their first season in the top flight after more than two decades.

 

 

The Nottingham Forest squad are currently in a training camp in Spain and Niakhate could join them there after signing.
