The centre-back only played a bit-part role at Anfield last season with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip ahead of him in the pecking order under Jurgen Klopp.
Gomez’s current deal at Liverpool expires in the summer of 2024 and he has been linked with transfer interest from elsewhere this summer.
However, the Reds are keen to keep hold of the 25-year-old and have held talks with him over signing a new deal.
Gomez has had further discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy since he returned for pre-season training.

Gomez wants to stay at Anfield and is prepared to extend his stint at the club beyond June of 2024.
