Manchester United have reached a total agreement over a deal worth €85m with Barcelona for De Jong, but the deal is not done yet.
De Jong is yet to give his green light to the move and Barcelona are yet to commit to paying him his deferred wages to the tune of €20m.
Barcelona are trying to force him out of the club and have told the player that he has to leave and join Manchester United this summer.
And according to Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo, with the pre-season tour of the US looming there is major uncertainty about whether the Dutchman will be on the flight.
Barcelona are set to leave the Catalan city soon for their pre-season tour and the club are undecided on whether to take De Jong with them.
Coach Xavi Hernandez will be selecting the squad and he is a fan of De Jong despite understanding the club’s need to sell him.
Barcelona are yet to speak to the coach on whether to take the Dutchman with them given the circumstances.
The Catalan giants are trying to force De Jong’s hand into leaving but for the moment his involvement in the pre-season tour remains under a cloud of uncertainty.
