Following a stellar campaign at Nottingham Forest on loan from Boro, Spence emerged as one of the most sought-after players in the Premier League.
Tottenham boss Conte, who is keen to bolster the right-wing back position in his squad, has set his eyes on Spence and Spurs are claimed to be closing in on a sealing swoop or him.
However, the Italian insisted that he does not want to comment on speculation linking Spence with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as it is disrespectful to his current club and the player.
But Conte added that Tottenham are always looking to further strengthen their squad in what has been a very busy transfer window for them in terms of player recruitment.
Asked about Spurs being linked with a move for Spence, Conte told a press conference: “On Spence, we don’t want to comment on speculation.
“It’s disrespectful for the clubs and the players.
“We are always looking to strengthen the squad.”
Tottenham are tipped to be set to secure Spence as their sixth signing this summer, and a medical could be scheduled for him before the weekend.
