The Clarets have already seen several of their first team players from last season leave the club, with some more stars linked with an exit.

New Burnley boss Vincent Kompany is overseeing a squad overhaul as his side gear up for a season in the Championship.

Kompany is looking to reinforce his backline and is keen on bringing in a new centre-back having seen the likes of James Tarkowski and Ben Mee exit Turf Moor.

And Burnley have zeroed in on Club Brugge star Hendry, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

However, Burnley are facing competition for the 27-year-old’s signature from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg.

The Germans also want to secure the services of the Hendry this summer along with Burnley and he could be handed an opportunity to leave Club Brugge following a single season on their books.

Kompany, who previously managed Anderlecht, did come up against a Club Brugge side featuring Hendry last term, and it remains to be seen whether they will link up this summer.
