Now 22 years old, Middleton has struggled to nail down a spot in the Rangers side and looks set for a season of limited game time if he stays at Ibrox.

Middleton has been out on four successive loan spells with the latest of them being at St Johnstone, and does not seem to have a big future at Rangers.

He has options this summer though as two sides are keen on securing his services.

Dundee United, managed by Jack Ross, who had Middleton at Hibernian, are interested in signing him from Rangers and have been in touch with the Gers.

In Greece, Chris Coleman has also been monitoring the player and wants to sign him for his club Atromitos, something which could put him in competition with Dundee United.

He was wanted by MLS side Orlando City towards the end of last season and it remains to be seen if the Americans go back in for him.

Middleton has a further year left to run on his contract at Rangers, having joined the club in 2018.

He is keen to move on this summer as he seeks to find a permanent home.
