Gakpo had been impressive for the Dutch giants for a number of years but registered his best season in terms of goals last time out.
In 27 Eredivise matches, the winger scored 12 goals in addition to providing 13 assists last season and has already netted two times in the current campaign.
His impressive displays have attracted the attention of both Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, who want to improve their front line; Forest are claimed to have put an offer to him, while Manchester United see him as an alternative to Ajax’s Antony.
Now, the Dutch club have started looking at replacements for Gakpo amid the possibility of losing him, according to Eindhoven-based daily the Eindhovens Dagblad.
They have not yet completely surrendered to the prospect of losing Gakpo, but after the crunch clash against Rangers in the Champions League next week, the club are ready to discuss him again with interested parties.
By the time, the Dutch club take on Rangers in the second leg of the Champions League playoff round, there would be just about a week left of the window.
Gakpo also has playing time concerns on his mind given the World Cup is this winter.
