The Australian midfielder signed a two-year contract with Celtic during the current transfer window and joined Ange Postecoglou’s squad on a free transfer.

31-year-old spent last season with Chinese outfit Shanghai Port and scored five goals in 13 appearances in the Chinese Super League.

Mooy has made three appearances for Celtic so far, all coming off the bench, and the Hoops first team coach Kewell believes that the Bhoys’ have landed a fantastic player.

Kewell stressed that Mooy is a hard working top professional player and is confident that the player will help the team by pushing them further.

He revealed that his countryman is looking in great shape on the training pitch and also cuts a very powerful figure.

“I didn’t play a role in that transfer”, Kewell told Fox Sports.

“But what I will say with Aaron is Celtic have bought a fantastic player, a top professional, he works extremely hard.

“And even over the last say, week, you can see his class just coming about now.

“And players are really seeing what Aaron Mooy is really about. He looks in great shape.”

“He looks strong, he looks powerful.

“His movement’s good.

“His touch is excellent, he’s training very well. So hopefully he can start pushing the team to make them push further.”

Mooy is reunited with former national team boss Postecoglou at Parkhead and will be looking forward to establishing himself under Celtic manager.
