The 20-year-old forward is a top target for Newcastle this summer but negotiations with Watford have been difficult.

Watford do not want to sell him and rejected two bids from the Magpies in the last week as they are clear about their demands to let him go.

Claims were made on Monday that the two clubs have finally reached an agreement over a fee for Pedro to move to St. James’ Park this summer.

However, Howe denied that any such deal is in place between Watford and Newcastle for the transfer.

He conceded that he is not aware of every detail of all the deals, but insisted that Newcastle have not agreed on a fee with Watford for Pedro.

The Newcastle boss said in a press conference when asked if Newcastle have agreed on a deal for the Watford striker: “I think that’s not entirely accurate, but I’m not dealing with things minute to minute.

“I’m in the background hearing what’s happening.

“But I don’t think that’s correct.”

Newcastle remain confident of getting a deal done but several things need to be sorted out between the two clubs; Pedro wants the move to happen.
