The Brazilian’s future at Villa Park has been under the scanner throughout this summer as he has been regularly linked with an exit.

 

Luiz is in the final year of his contract at Aston Villa and has attracted interest from several quarters including Premier League side Arsenal and Chelsea along with La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

 

 

Liverpool, Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard’s former side, are also keen on snapping up the Brazilian.

 

The Reds are currently shorthanded in the middle of the park and boss Jurgen Klopp wants more options.

 

 

And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.it, Liverpool approached the Lions on Wednesday night over a deal for Luiz.

 

The Midlands club are braced for deadline day offers for the midfielder, and Gerrard is claimed to be open to letting him go as his contract is set to expire next summer.

 

 

It remains to be seen whether the Merseyside giants slap in an offer for Luiz today and try to get a deal over the line for him before today’s 11pm deadline.
