Torres has emerged as the top target for Aston Villa as they push to try and take him to Midlands in the ongoing transfer window
He has a €60m release clause but with only a year left on his contract, Villarreal are prepared to sell him for a negotiated fee.
The centre-back has been assessing his options this summer and he was initially not enthused about joining Villa.
But according to Spanish outlet Relevo, Emery has managed to convince the player to consider a move to Villa Park.
The Aston Villa boss has been in constant touch with Torres and has been trying to sell his plans to the defender.
Torres is now open to a move to Villa Park due to Emery’s perseverance and is convinced about the project.
However, a decision has not been made and Bayern Munich have also made an enquiry for him.
Torres is currently on holiday and will assess his options, one of them being getting reunited with his former Villarreal boss at Villa Park.
