The 19-year-old striker joined Rangers from Blackpool in the summer of 2020, but failed to establish himself at Ibrox.
Last season, he was sent out on loan to Cove Rangers in January, but failed to find the back of the net in his 13 outings for the League One outfit.
Weston left the Gers after the expiration of his contract in June and the young striker is a free agent now.
Derby County have shown interest in Weston and they have taken him on a trial before making a decision on his future.
Paul Warne’s side narrowly missed out on the last playoff spot by one point and finished seventh in the League One table last season.
This season, Derby are aiming to push for promotion and they are in the market to strengthen their squad.
The Rams have also taken teenager Charlie Lindsay, who was Weston’s team-mate at Rangers last season, on trial.
Now it remains to be seen whether Weston will be able to impress Warne in pre-season to earn a permanent contract.
