Wolves’ manager Julen Lopetegui is reshaping his squad for the challenges ahead next season and he is interested in bolstering his team’s defence.
Lopetegui’s side are especially keen to improve their right-back position and they are eager to bring Doherty back to Molineux.
It has been suggested that Wolves have agreed a deal with the 31-year-old to re-sign him on a free transfer.
And it has been claimed that the right-back is scheduled to have his medical today before putting pen to paper with the club.
Doherty featured 302 times in his first spell at Molineux before joining Tottenham in the 2020 summer transfer window.
He spent the latter half of last season at Atletico Madrid After his Spurs contract was mutually terminated in January, but only played 16 minutes in La Liga.
It remains to be seen whether Doherty can get his career back on track as he looks to get regular first-team opportunities.
