Chelsea have held no formal talks with Tottenham Hotspur target Jean-Clair Todibo and a move for the Nice defender is seen as unlikely in January, according to the Evening Standard.

Todibo has been on the radar of several Premier League clubs this season following his performances at Nice, who are sitting second in Ligue 1.

Tottenham have held talks over signing him and though Nice are reluctant to sell, it is claimed they have not yet said their last word in the race.

Manchester United are also interested in Todibo and could be boosted by Nice owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival at Old Trafford.

Chelsea have asked about Todibo, adding to the transfer scrap, but a move in January is highly unlikely.

The Blues sounded out his agent last month to discuss a potential move but there has been no progress made since then.

There have been no formal talks over a transfer between Chelsea and the player’s camp.

Chelsea are studying centre-backs but signing a forward is a bigger priority for the club at the moment.

For the moment, it seems unlikely that Todibo will end up at Chelsea by the end of the window.
