Manchester United are keeping tabs on Benfica defender Antonio Silva but Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo remains their top defensive target, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.
The 20-year-old defender has been attracting serious attention from clubs across Europe with his performances at Benfica.
However, a move in January seems unlikely as no club are willing to pay this €100m release clause at this stage of the season.
Paris Saint-Germain are in touch with his camp over a move in the summer and Chelsea also have their eyes on him but are now focusing on selling players.
It has been claimed that Manchester United are closely following his progress in Benfica.
He is admired inside Old Trafford but Silva is not their primary target for the centre-back position.
Manchester United are still focused on getting Nice’s Todibo who is also wanted at Tottenham and Chelsea.
The Premier League giants are expected to find it easier to negotiate a deal with Nice given their owner, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is set to take sporting control of the Old Trafford outfit.
The Frenchman is also likely to move only next summer as no one wants to meet Nice’s €50m asking price in January.
