West Ham United have failed with a move for Genoa winger Albert Gudmundsson in the ongoing transfer window, it has been claimed in Italy.
David Moyes is keen to add more attacking impetus to his squad in the winter transfer window and a winger is on the West Ham boss’ agenda.
The West Ham manager is aware that he needs more guile up front and has been pushing the club to bring in a wide man.
It has been claimed Gudmundsson’s performances at Genoa have piqued the interest of the Hammers this month.
But according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, Genoa have knocked back an approach from the east London club for Gudmundsson.
West Ham’s initial move to try and sign the attacker has been blocked by the Italian club this month.
The Iceland winger has scored ten times in all competitions this season and is Genoa’s top scorer.
The Serie A outfit do not want to lose such an important player in the middle of the season.
And with Radu Dragusin joining Tottenham Hotspur, they also have no financial need.
It remains to be seen whether West Ham go back with a fresh approach to test Genoa’s resilience later in the transfer window.
