Kasper Schmeichel is not a player Nottingham Forest are interested in signing ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to The Athletic.

Forest are in the market to bring in a goalkeeper as Nuno Espirito Santo wants an upgrade on Matt Turner.

The Midlands club have been looking at several goalkeepers and have already made moves for Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone and RB Leipzig’s Peter Gulacsi.

Nottingham Forest have also been linked with a move to sign Anderlecht goalkeeper Schmeichel who is keen on a return to the Premier League.

However, it has been claimed that the Dane is not a player of interest for Nottingham Forest at this stage of the window.

Despite the rumours, Forest are unlikely to try and sign the former Premier League-winning goalkeeper before Thursday’s transfer deadline.

The veteran goalkeeper joined Anderlecht on a free transfer last summer after Nice agreed to terminate his contract.

A return to England appeals to him but for the moment, Nottingham Forest are unlikely to make a move for him.
